About Western Australian Shepherd Rescue
Western Australian Shepherd Rescue is dedicated to the rescue and placement of Aussies in need. Western Aussie Rescue lists the Aussies available for adoption from owners and animal shelters. Aussies in need of new homes from nearby states are listed as well. Aussie mixes and other herding breed needing new homes are also listed. Western Aussie Rescue was formed in 1998 by a VERY small group of volunteers dedicated to helping this wonderful breed.
More and more Aussies are ending up in shelters. This is usually due to the lack of information given to buyers of those cute fuzzy puppies. Most Aussies do not end up in the shelters due to any fault of their own. Usually Aussies are surrendered because of their owner's lack of knowledge of what type of dog they bought. Lifestyle changes as well as lack of time on the owner's part to properly care for and exercise their Aussie are reasons for surrender. Aussies are often too active and bright for some people. Owners are sometimes not willing to commit to the time and energy involved in training a dog.
